Affiliate programs before the website is functional
Hi all! The quick rundown is, I wanted to start a website, get a little experience, and see how it worked out for me. I'm not necessarily chasing profits from the site, just testing out the world of marketing, setup, design, etc. I had multiple people recommend starting an affiliate site, because they're relatively simple as far as content goes.
I've read just about every post and blog I can find about them, and I've gotten as far as I feel I can on my own. I've got my website up and hosted, gotten it on WordPress with a theme. From here, people say just put in your affiliate products with some reviews or posts, and play around with it from there to learn.
There's where my problem comes in. I can't find any affiliate programs that will let me sign up without a full site which already has relevant content on it, other than Clickbank, which doesn't have any products that I'd want to promote or be attached to. They're all e-products. I was hoping for Amazon, but they want a functioning website to pore over and approve.
I don't want to waste my time making pages or reviews for products I won't get any commission on unless I have to. So for people in this area, how do you actually get affiliated with products to get the site started in the first place?
EDIT: I guess I should say before the website is filled with content. It's already functional, just empty. It's on the default WP Coming Soon page for now.
EDIT: I've also been recommended r/affiliatemarketing which somehow I didn't notice before, so I'm x-posting there.
