Mojang, please keep boats the same as they are now. (X-Post from /r/Minecraft)

When 1.9 pre-release came out, I didnt think too much on boats, other than I was thankful you guys got rid of the canoe system. But wow, how much has changed. These awesome boats are so fun now, with how they, you know, DRIFT. I always wanted a way to race my friends other then a boat race (pre update) or horse race, because horses lack technique and boats used to lack good speed and technique too. These new boats have a ton of potential, like how they go fast on ice and of course drifting makes them so much cooler. I think rather than writing this off as a bug it should be a fully developed feature. Sure its not realistic, but who really cares? Im ready for some craziness in Minecraft, not more farmables. So please Mojang, keep the boats the way they are, develop this in to one of those quirks that make this great game stand out!
