Quick talk about VR
So... Oculus is expensive, HTC vive is expensive... we knew VR was going to be expensive, and that's all fine and good, it is what it is. Now everyone is looking to Sony and PS Vr next to see what their move is gonna be...
So, let's say just for argument sake... that the PS Vr goes for the range between $400-500 . So it's the cheaper of the 3, but still expensive right?
Now, i think everyone is pretty sure that at E3 Sony is going to come out swinging for the VR market with their Headset. Less impressive tech, better price point... but you need a PS4, and that is around 350 by itself.
So, Sony can't really cut THAT Much off the PS Vr, since it's new Tech... but they CAN maybe release a PS4 ''slim'', since the Tech for the PS4 would be cheaper to manufacture now.
So, let's say a PS4 slim comes out at E3 at a 299 prince point. PS Vr goes for let's say $450. That puts a PS4 console + VR headset at just the prince range of the Oculus or the Vive. Except that neither the Oculus or the Vive come out with the Hardware required to make them work. You still need a top grade pc for that. Hell, imagine a PS4 + PS Vr Bundle for $700...
If Sony pulls THAT move out... that's it. It's done. Even us that already have a PS4, who can't benefit from a PS4 Slim, would still reap benefits down the line with a bigger install base of players and the central focus of gaming VR experience.
Now, of course, there are NO indications that things might go that way or another... but it would feel like a killing blow that sony CAN pull off. And if by any chance that DOES happen, well... i'm going PS Vr.
What about you guys?
