D/D/D Regional Reports - Dublin, Ireland

Yo so to get things started I personally believe ddd to be in the top 4-5 decks of the format. However this is not with the generic build that everyone runs, but rather a build called dd1 that I developed myself with the help of a friend. I will post the list if this post hits the front page. Here goes:

Round 1- played against monarchs. Game one started pretty well, but a misinformed judge ruled that where arf thou's end phase damage doesn't get healed by oracle king. After the match was finished he pulled me aside and told me that he was wrong and that oracle king does indeed make you gain the life instead. I was Super Quantum Mecha Salt Lord after. The monarch player did the usual shenanigans with ether and such, but after some grinding he made a field spell lock that I didn't draw the out for. Game 2 was won by me with a quick otk and flare metal to finish it. Game 3 I would have won if the where arf thou ruling had been correct from the start but whatever. Overall loss that should have been a win.

Round 2- played some random guys gishki zeilgias turbo build. Needless to say it was a quick 2-0 in my favor. Overall result was a win.

Round 3- played against the DDD mirror. The guy was running the generic build and was outclassed by the dd1 build. Also he seemed a bit inexperienced. Using ddd wave Cesar king abyss ragnarok in both games I took his oracle kings to quickly otk him twice.

Round 4- played against kozmo. This was a match up I feared the most, not due to kozmo, but because the player was a really solid guy I know who was good at the deck. Game one he bricked with some traps and I just bonked him with Oracle king until he scooped. Game two was very close but he had the board clear with farm girl and dark destroyer in hand so he took the win. Game 3 was very close, with me taking him down to 400 life points. I used swamp king to make the 3200 beater and hit into his forerunner for exactly game. Was suuuppperr sweet. Overall result was a win for ddd yet again.

Round 5- burning abyss was the challenge here. The guy didn't expect my decks power at all and after veilering his kuribandit two games in a row, he was beaten in two turns both games. This was achieved using swirl slime in grave to summon ragnarok from hand to summon Leonidas in grave, then overlaying into flare metal after the damage for an easy game. Overall result was an easy win here.

Round 6- played against monarchs yet again here. The guy was from my locals so I knew his build. Game one he beat me with march field spell lock, no real explanation or anything here. Game two I flipped mask of restrict and make stardust dragon to protect it, ended up with him scooping. Game three I veilered his edea and went into mask of restrict after drawing it off of formula synchron. He didn't have the out so the game was easy enough. Overall result was a win.

Final round, table 1, finals of the tournament, I felt like Kirito vs. The Gleam Eyes - the opponent was more Bruning abyss. Not much to say here, he opened very well both games with the perfect answers to my combos and flat out rekt me. Game one I got hit by three Dantes and scooped, and game two was more or less the same with him having mistake for my Kepler. Overall was a loss here for me :'(

End result 5-2 in a 72 person regional. This result was fantastic in my opinion. Many players including some ycs tops were playing. I ended up finishing 9th due to my two losses, but this just proves the power of DD1 with the correct build in place. Hope you enjoyed!
