Why do things happen in movies or real life?

Like casting and Oscar nominations. If I wanted an Oscar I would just actor betterer and like do better stunts to make the story more good. Why do people not do things sensibly in movies like running to the left? Christ on a bike I can run left and I'm not even an actor. Do you have a mobile phone?
