Is my PC bottle-necking at the CPU? (starcraft 2)
build:
-
AMD FX-6300
-
m5a97 r2.0 mobo
-
8gb ripjaws ram
-
r9 270x gpu
-
everything installed on SSDs
My friend pointed out that starcraft 2 can be more limited on the cpu than video card, which I was unaware of (intermediate pc builder I suppose). This was a budget pc build, but it seemed at the time the 6300 would surely be good enough for starcraft, not exactly insane graphics.
I thought that some starcraft maps were always going to lag due to the number of units out but maybe I'm wrong on that.
It's running at stock frequency (3.5ghz i think) now but I could research overclocking. The only reason I didn't overclock is because I figured it'd be easier on the cpu and it would last longer.
Would OCing make a big difference you think? Or maybe my build is just a weird setup and shoulda got the 8core or intel cpu?
