Best Place to start an independent faction?

I have started one at orkmont(iron islands) and flint( the north) of th two flint was much easier to hold but made it difficutl to move into a larger role . orkmont was honestly me being oppurtunistic with the riverlands dominating the greyjoys and i just took my little slice of the cake.
