Anyone thinks Firaxis's plasma weapon/tier 3 armor design is bit off?

It just feels quite out of place compared to everything else. I know plasma weapons are reverse engineered alien weapons but still though. Considering how MAG weapon looked, I wonder why they had to force "curved" design everywhere. While this was also true on XCOM: EU/EW, it wasn't as this bad.

TBH, considering Firaxis's other games, I don't understand their obsession with curved design and everything needs to look like those armors from cheap sci-fi games warframe civ:BE harmony infantries.

It's such a shame too. Considering how they designed MAG weapons, it looks like improvised (look more like prototype-ish compared to ADVENT's) and fits the lore perfectly. Even the powered EXO suit also shares that kind of visual.
