Can you Spoof a Linked Cabinet with Cheats?

Okay, this is gonna be a strange question but it is something I wanna know.

See, I just found out that in Rave Racer, there are certain scenes that only play when two arcade cabinets are linked together and you play Linked mode. While I see people have managed to link two instances of MAME together for Daytona USA and Virtua Racing, I don't see anything for Rave Racer yet.

Now I don't care about actually playing against another player, I just want to get these scenes to play so I was wondering: Is there any way to make Rave Racer think it is connected to another cabinet with Cheats?

I seem to recall MAME Cheats basically being Action Replay codes, where they re-write a little chunk of code. So couldn't you perhaps get Rave Racer to think it is linked to another machine that way? If so, how would one go about figuring out how to make this happen?
