Gasping for deep breaths when high off weed?

Hey, I started smoking about a year ago, and started smoking almost every night for the last 2 months. A common thing I've noticed the last 2 months from heavy smoking is that I can't seem to get a deep breath in, so I get stuck in this loop of basically yawning, and if I don't then I get really anxious I'm not getting enough oxygen. Am I actually having trouble breathing while high, or is it just in my head? Anyone else ever had this problem?
