Questions from a Left wing guy (not here to debate)

Question

I've been on the left most of my adult life. I'm nearly 32 and am American. Obviously we historically rejected monarchy and for a while I've written it off as ancient and useless in the modern world. However, lately I've turned my historical senses toward great monarchs and I must say some of them have done better for their people than many elected leaders. Our presidential election and the lack of knowledge I see in voters on both sides also causes me to think that perhaps popular sovereignty is worth questioning if people do not take the time to be knowledgable about how a constitutional republic is suppose to work.

My questions are:

  1. How would a (real) monarchy look in the 21st century? I don't mean the celebrities in Buckingham Palace

  2. How would a monarchy deal with the issues that have come up over the last century and a half like healthcare, public education, job creation policies, abortion, gay marriage, etc...

  3. Are absolutism, hereditary heirs, and state church's still widely supported among monarchists? Those are things I can't see myself supporting but I am still open to hearing opinions. Thanks!
