NOI and FOI in Detroit tonight

Hi all, just saw a bunch (1000s) of Fruit of Islam members in the Ren Cen in Detroit tonight. I had never heard of FOI or NOI before tonight. They seemed a little unfriendly as I walked by in the lobby tonight. I'm a young white guy, so maybe that's why? Are FOI and NOI fringe groups? Do most Muslim Americans support these organizations? The fact that it appeared to have so little diversity in terms of members made me wonder if these groups are in the same realm as the KKK and Black Panthers. Just curious what your thoughts are on these groups?
