I'm going to Disney world for a day, I want to memorialize a friend who passionately loved all things Disney. Suggestions?.
One year ago in march, Ben died suddenly and tragically at the age of 21. He was an incredible human being, and endured unimaginable obstacles. He was born with osteogenesis imperfecta( brittle bone disease). They stopped counting fracture when he was around 8 y/o with 200. Despite the pain and difficulty Ben was a bright addition to anyone that was lucky to know him. He befriended strangers in words with friends , and he consoled people struggling with the hardships of life. When you hung out with ben, he made you feel like the most fantastic person to walk the earth. Ben was almost completely dependent on others to function in day to day life. As a result, he had a genius like passion and knowledge of movies. He even worked at a movie theatre taking tickets, a job he got, I think, so he could go to as many movies as he wanted. He rarely showed the world his frustration with his situation. Even when people stared or talked down to him. He would just wave and say, "hey man". This would often catch people off guard, but ultimately receive a friendly response. Ben loved Disney movies. He owned every release of jungle book(VHS, DVD, anniversary releases), and even took his jungle book stuffed animal to comedy shows and restaurants. His " Make a Wish" wish, was to go to Disney World, which he did as a young boy. Though his death was sudden and tragic, he lived brightly and fully longer then many in his situation. As a result of my job, and cosmic intervention, I am going to be within an hour of Disney World on the one year anniversary of his death. I want to honor him. I want to spend the day surrounding by the things he loved. I don't have a lot to spend after tickets, but I would love to do something to commemorate his life. This post feels a bit self-indulgent but I appreciate having an opportunity to share Ben. If you know of any actions I can take, or places I could go, I would love to hear them!
