Advice for a newbie just starting the game

Hey guys. Just about to jump into Bloodborne for the first time this evening. I haven't played a Souls game before and am strictly just going to give the game a shot based on what some friends have said about it. Looks like a pretty fun game. I have also heard it is hard as hell and can be pretty frustrating. Any advice for a newbie who is just starting to make my experience as good as possible?
