Are there still disconnection issues and save mishaps when it comes to the co-op campaign for Shogun 2?

I remember there was at launch there was a lot of complaints about the co-op campaign. A friend has recently gotten the game and I do wish to play it with him so I was wondering if these issues are still prevalent and if so, what are the tips to minimizing data loss for the game?
