Photos of the Caves at Matala, Crete where Joni Mitchell camped

A couple of months ago I posted one about Joni Mitchell's song, "Carey" which is about her time vagabonding in Crete, in a seaside town called Matala. I've found a website that shows photos of her as a young woman vagabonding in Crete, the caves where the hippies lived in Matala. She met a young hippie adventurer there named Cary Raditz (she misspelled his name) and wrote a song about him. The video posted on this site has a great rendition of this song, with Mitchell accompanying herself on the mountain dulcimer (in what she calls "Matala tuning") and it's definitely a stroll down memory lane for people of my generation. Here's what vagabonding was like, in 1966. Please go check it out.

Scroll down to the very bottom to see the video and hear the song.
