Would it be okay to start the series with "Up Your Arsenal"?

I've recently purchased the Future Trilogy on PS3 and plan on getting the PS4 reboot, but I want to start with the earliest game I'd be able to tolerate. I've heard many people say that UYA is the best game in the series, and frankly the first 2 games look too dated.

Edit: I take back what I said about the first games feeling dated. They play a lot better than the PS1 platformers I grew up with.
