0 skills or understanding with cars, think I need a tuneup, or something?
Apologies for any typos or incorrect grammar as I'm cirrently on my phone. I didn't get my license until 23 or first car until 24, pretty much only drive to work or to do errands etc, but not often. I don't even know how to put air in my tires, despite asking many times from my dad when I did live at home. Point being atm I think my car needs a little tlc. Aside from oil changes and a battery and altenator once last summer it hasn't seen a shop in probably 4 years when I got it. The battery and alternator my bf pretty much took care of, but I have no idea where to get it checked out. Its been feeling a little sluggish and I live in a warmer area but while its cold feels like I'm driving a boat (or what I imagine driving a boat would feel like) I don't think it needs serious work but maybe new breaks or fluids and things? There's a lot of little tire places and oil changing places, dealerships and auto part stores, but where do I take a car to get it checked out and figure out what it needs. I don't really want to rely on my bf for any of this as he currently doesn't have much freetime and this is probably a thing I should learn how to do on my own.
