Starting again
I played hockey for about 2 years but I haven't been on a team since like 2014 because I broke my foot (not hockey related) and just never really got a chance to pick it back up after that. I wanna start playing again, but not only am I super rusty now, but I was never really that good in the first place. I'm hoping to go to a sticks & pucks next week, but as far as actually playing on a team, what should I do? Should I take a camp first or just go straight for a team? My only concern is that I feel like teams directed for my age group are usually more advanced, so I don't know how well I'll fit in. When I first started playing I was the only new player on the team and I ended up embarrassing myself a lot so I really want to avoid that happening again. I'm under 18 so beer leagues are most likely out of the question.
Also, I previously played in the midwest, but I recently moved to the PNW (Seattle area, to be specific) and obviously hockey isn't nearly as big here so I don't know what to expect. I figure it's either super intense and competitive since the people who do play must be really into it, or relatively casual since it's not as big of a deal here. Does anyone have any insight on that?
