Do you generally prescribe antiemetics to alcohol poisoning patients?
Just out of curiosity, I not-so-fondly recall an old experience of getting alcohol poisoning and waking up in ER the next morning, and having a pretty rough day when they discharged me (basically as soon as I was conscious). This got me thinking: do clinical staff often give patients an antiemetic or anything in this kind of situation, or is it generally a focus on just making sure they're stable? What do you normally do with alcohol poisoning patients once they're stable and alert, and ready to start the hangover? Hand them a med out of pity, or is that part of the day up to them to deal with? (I'll admit, the hangover of a lifetime does provide a pretty good deterrent to doing it again)
