Could we bring back thumbnails?

I really do love the new CSS for the subreddit, however my only gripe is that instead of ordinary flairs (or like they were previously, in the title), the thumbnail is simply replaced. I feel that this ends up making me miss posts that I would usually click on, so I end up disabling the subreddit style because I feel that is more important than how the subreddit looks.

But when I do that, not only do I miss out on character flairs, but the subreddit is also very boring-looking. Is it possible we could get the best of both worlds and have thumbnails added back?
