Tips on how to achieve this effect in AE

I am working on a workout video for someone and for a certain segment I want to apply an effect like this.

Basically offset tracks of her in different colors. In the video the tracks sort of vibrate back and forth. I achieved the effect above in Premiere using duplicate tracks above the original and colored one red and one green and then key framed their position and rotation slightly. This was intended to just be a filler until I got to AE. However, I was trying to do it in AE tonight and found that my colored duplicate layers effect the overall color too much and end up washing out the effect. I believe this to be because of how AE layers works, but can anyone give me some tips on what I might do differently to achieve this effect? I have played with blend modes and the track mattes but I have not been able to keep the colors from washing each other out. I suppose I could just use the effect I made in premiere, but I wanted to refine my key frames in AE because its way less of a pain in the ass. Any help is appreciated.
