Canon books

Hello, I have taken interest in reading more books in doing this I have looked for books of movies I liked but ones that the movies in book form unless the book came first. i.e. Harry Potter. Anyways I have looked on the star wars wiki, star wars wooki, and now here to get together a book list of canon books to read. However, between the 3 I am left more confused than anything and I was wondering if any one could clarify which books are canon and need to be read. I think I know most of which are cannon there are only a few inconsistencies that need cleared up.

Any response would be appreciated thanks!
