+44 Final Lyrics and AvA Final Lyrics
I didn't write this, but I was looking at some possible meanings of lyrics while also thinking of my own. But someone posted this as I guess you would say a lyric theory. This was on the Chapter 13 Lyric Meanings page by the way:
With a sober mind and “scrapes,” Mark is trying to say what he needs Tom to hear, but believed Tom wasn’t listening to him, and, if not Tom, who else would understand what Mark was really saying? No one. At all.
"What is interesting are the last words of Tom’s first album after leaving blink-182 – We Don’t Need to Whisper are “if love’s a word that you say then say it, I will listen”. The next album for a blink-182 member to release, was was Mark and Travis' When Your Heart Stops Beating, by +44. The final words of this album? “I’m scraped and sober, but there’s no one listening to me at all”. In Tom’s next release, Angels and Airwaves' album I-Empire, the final words are “Here I am”. Tom was saying that, this whole time, he was listening to Mark, despite him not believing it."
I thought it was pretty interesting, though probably not intentional.
