Iron Banner should ALWAYS be Rift

Suggestion

A lot of people acted like the last Iron Banner was going to be the birth of the antichrist before it appeared, coming up with somewhat-justified reasons why it would be an imbalanced mess.

Well, I don't really think that came to fruition, and in addition, it was more fun and fixed a balance issue in Iron Banner Control.

So, onto my points.

It was more fun.

Control has no...flair so to speak. You try to cap zones. And...that's it. That's all that happens.

In Rift though, there are blood-pumping moments. There's drama. There are moments you scream in terror and feel alive. When your team grabs the Spark and you all start moving toward their Rift, it's an exhilarating experience. When you juuuust manage to dunk you feel goddamn amazing. When the enemy team has the Spark and you're all sweating bullets calling out WHERE'S THE RUNNER and a mate is like HE'S GOING LEFT SIDE and you all band together and take him out, it's the same thing.

And if you just manage to fail at the dunk you feel that disappointment but then you're itching to try it again. If they dunk on you you're like "ok asshole you're not doing that again!"

It has personality. Control is just...you kill, you die, at some point the match ends. There is no exciting moment.

It's MORE balanced.

The biggest issue with Control? Some maps are terrible for it. Some maps give a HUGE advantage to one team, and it's random which one you'll be on. You know the ones. Shores of Time. Blind Watch. I could go on.

Playing Control on any of these maps is like being waterboarded if you're on the "bad side." It's an uphill battle to cap 2 zones because the enemy team has such perfect defensive positions to stop you from. Annoying in regular PvP but in Iron Banner when losing has a penalty? It makes you want to rip your hair out.

Rift doesn't have that nonsense. Not once did I feel like there was a "bad side" at all, no matter what map it was. In Control nearly half the maps result in either an easy win or an almost guaranteed loss, and sometimes you spawn on the "bad side" constantly.

Screw Clash, it was too much camping your own spawn. Screw Control, it's boring and imbalanced. Rift is both fun and balanced. It's perfect. The only downside, in my opinion, is you probably don't want to play solo...but seriously, go onto the fireteams subreddit or destinylfg.com and you can easily find a full fireteam.

If you have a full fireteam it's really not likely that you'll be mercy ruled. Get a fireteam and it was the most fun I'd had in Iron Banner ever since it simply didn't have the annoyances of the others.
