Car dealer here , did a little test on a 2002 rav 4 we just traded in.

There are some differences in these 2 vehicles but I've been real suspicious about how Avery's blood would have transferred from his cut finger to the dash. We just traded this vehicle in as we don't normally buy cars that old but after playing around with this car and looking at the pictures of the area they claim he transferred his blood in TH car. I can say with a fair amount of certainty that he did not brush his finger against the dash while starting the car . The dash is to far away , I couldn't reach it even with sticking my pinky, ring finger and middle finger away from my grip on the key. After looking at the pictures of TH car the dash is even more indented in that area of the dash. Also to rub the part of finger that was cut onto the dash would have been very awkward...not a natural motion in any way....and its not even really reachable if your trying to stick your fingers toward the dash....I don't think Avery put that blood there from his hand...It just doesn't work physically.
