Needs time to learn to love oneself?
I need advice on what to do and to see if I should try to get back into a relationship with someone. Let me begin by talking about how our relationship began. About three weeks ago I was hanging out with my buddy in the mountains. I was talking to his sister and began to realize that I had a pretty big crush on her and as she spoke she revealed that she had one on me too. This girl had a boyfriend at the time but he was a dick and only really cared about getting laid and using her for her money. I talk to her and develop a close bond with her. I had seen her around before and talked with her but never made any sexual advances until that night. We hung out and ended up snuggling which felt incredible because I have not been close to a girl in a half a year or so.
The next morning in comes and I find out she dumped her boyfriend for me. We hang out more and the next date we have sex. She tells me it's the best sex she has ever had and that no guy has worked so hard to please her before. The sex and dates continue and I become more and more attached to her.
A week into our dating I ask if she wants to be boyfriend and girlfriend but she states she isn't ready yet. A few days pass and she tells me she wants to be in a relationship. I feel incredible and see her almost every day. She seems happy to be with me and I'm so excited to have someone to love and care for. I tell her I love her about a week in which was incredibly premature but it was what I felt and I needed to let her know. She responds with I love you too.
A few days pass and I say it again. This time her response is slower and feels more forced so I stay away from saying it again. Other than that everything seemed great and felt great, but I noticed she was sleeping a lot. She takes antidepressants and tells me that they make her very sleepy but I'm a little concerned with the constant napping and sleeping.
We continue to hang out and one night I get drunk with my buddies then come back to her house with her brother who is one of my best friends. She catches me and tells me to come with her. All of a sudden she says she still has feelings for the duchebag she dated before and that she wants to end our relationship. I was in shock but she reassured me she didn't want to be with him again. My heart fell crashing to the ground
The next day I talk to her. She tells me that she needs to learn to love herself and that I was too good to get dragged down by her. I can't help but cry and her face seems to remain emotionless which she claims is due to the antidepressants. She then tells me she thought of committing suicide because her ex has taken away all of her friends. I am concerned but she promises me that she is not going to hurt herself. Now I feel abandoned and alone even though our relationship only lasted a few weeks I have never connected with someone so well and I really want her to be ok. She tells me that she doesn't want someone in her life to get dragged down by her and that she loves me but not the same way I love her.
Now I'm confused, hurt and concerned for her. Everything seemed to be going perfectly between us and then it ended. I am also leaving for college in six months and think she might not want to get too connected again and then separated. She wants to remain friends. [18M] [16F]
