Algorithms Help

I Just started as a cuber not to long ago and I can hardly call my self one. I was wondering if there are any good resources on the logic behind finding algorithms for a 3x3 cube or any other puzzles because I would not like to be reliant on guides to solve every puzzle I buy. I have also have hopes of maybe making my own puzzle some day. any help is much appreciated.

as I side note I Have all ready looked up and memorized the standard algorithms to solve a 3x3x3
