[WIP] I'm making a program with Unity that generates schedules! Check it out!
Hey guys, first off I want to say that the reason this account has literally no karma is because I don't ever post with it, but because this project has some PII in it, I couldn't use my main account as I've had a few threats of DOXXING and I need to be careful!
That said! Here is the repo before I say anymore Scheduler.
So! A few things, this is a project that is still heavily under development, the functionality of the GUI is not all there(some stuff that exists does nothing or is incomplete), but the core functionality of the program is starting to come together. One of the things I'm working on right now is heavily optimizing the file loading process, and the main algorithm runtime (as both of them freeze the program for 3-10 seconds) so expect some lag when doing certain things. There have been some cases where the program freezes the editor and VS completely, though I believe that to be related to VS and not the program.
This code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0.
Granted I don't expect anyone is going to jump on this code by any means but better safe than sorry.
Okay! So obviously I work for Verizon, and one of the biggest issues we have internally is that schedules take forever to make, and the internal programs that we have to make schedules are terrible. The schedules they make don't work, make sense, or account for just about anything. So I decided I would use the knowledge I have to try and create something that could fix that problem, and hopefully have managers doing things we need them to more.
The scheduler is currently built around a 2 shift system, but can easily™ be modified to make it support more shifts, and I plan to add that support in the future to make this program more useful than just for my particular job. The structure is somewhat straight forward, and I'm refining it more and more as I move along.
Generally speaking there are two main folders:
System //Main system scripts
-
SubSystem //Small subscripts
-
Types //Various types
WindowScripts //MonoBehavior based scripts
- WindowElements //Small elements that are not standalone
Currently the program stores data in XML files, a practice I plan to phase out(at least mostly) and transition into using databases, whether local or otherwise, but at the moment I'm working on making the loading of files a threaded subprocess(as it does not contain any unityengine stuff) so it can process in the background without locking up the main program, though that will take time, and generally come after I get more of the program functional.
Thanks if you took the time to look over it! I appreciate any feedback you can give me!
