Need help connecting a European Amstrad GX4000 to a U.S. TV
Here's what I have:
- 110v to 220v converter
- Several adapters that converts SCART to A/V out
- Two PAL/SECAM to NTSC converters
Okay, the console powers on and works fine. Docs are in both French and Spanish. I bought it from the UK. It was unopened. No idea if it's PAL or SECAM.
I have three SCART/AV adapters. One has a switch that has Input/Output on it. When I use this one I get audio out. The second adapter doesn't have the switch and does nothing. The third is an actual cable with SCART one one side and A/V on the other. It also does nothing.
I tried a more expensive PAL/SECAM converter, but it does only HDMI out and my retro gaming TV doesn't have HDMI-in, But I tried it on my laptop and I get nothing. I also tried it on my Trinitron with an HDMI to A/V cable and nothing.
So, I am kind of at a loss, here.
My last shot will be to try the Amstrad monitor cable. I bought on from the UK and is modded to do A/V out. Then I'll try to run that to a converter.
Any ideas of how I can get video on this thing?
Edit:
Here is the first PAL/SECAM converter I tried: http://i.imgur.com/PtRz3CX.jpg
Here is the second: http://i.imgur.com/qYgzrcb.jpg
Here is the SCART to A/V adapter that at least gets sound to work: http://i.imgur.com/YslOkB4.jpg
Note: The sound works regardless of whether it's going through the box or directly to the TV. The box says "No Signal." When I try directly to the TV it does nothing.
And here's the fancier PAL/SECAM converter I tried: http://i.imgur.com/qYgzrcb.jpg
