Photos in device folders and Google Photos gone??

So this morning I literally had ALL my photos. Now at night I'm going thru my album and EVERYTHING except for the pictures I took today are GONE.

Did anyone experience this with their device or with Google Photos? Anyway I can get back my photos??? What do I do? I'm sitting here sobbing because there are some really important memorable pictures...
