What's the deal between the Qrow, Glynda, and Ironwood?

Originally, I was going to just put the Ozluminati, but I get the feeling Ozpin's relations with the other three members of his little group are probably too complicated to get lumped in with this post. That being said, seriously what's the deal with these three?

There definitely seems to be a history between them, especially between Glynda and James. But putting possible romance aside, none of them act like they've just been introduced. And they all seem very accustomed to eachother's personalties/actions. Did they all go to Beacon together way back when?

Maybe Ozpin chose all of them for his group because they were the strongest of his students?

And this is somewhat of a tangent, but it is related to the Ozluminati, so whatever. Anyway, does it bother anyone else that Glynda is literally the most static out the entire group? We've gotten almost nothing in the way of character development/motivations/history for her. Anything like that for her usually comes from Ironwood's own characterization. Like the thing with her showing a softer side towards him on the cliff and maybe hinting they used to be a couple.
