Took a shot to the foot. Ouch!

Tonight, during a pick up game, I unintentionally blocked a shot from the point with the inside of my skate boot. I finished the game but, after the shower my foot got real bad. I skate in CCM Tacks 3052. Would higher end skates have better protection then mine? Also, what is the remedy for not having this happen again? I would take a picture to share but my feet look like they went through a meat grinder. Don't want to gross anyone out with my troll feet.
