Event #4,308 where my mother is weird and controlling

Sadly my mom is the crazy one... I was looking into cupcake designs for my upcoming engagement party with my mom. The booklet they had at the grocery store had some very cute designs for baby showers, and a particularly cute yellow and grey themed set. I showed my mom the page and said, "this is something I'd like when FH and I start to have kids. A gender neutral baby shower!"

"Yellow? Why yellow?" "We talked about it and want the baby's sex to be a surprise for everyone."

She looked as if I had just punched her in the face! THE AUDACITY! So she goes, "How about, when you get pregnant, have the doctor write down if it's a boy or a girl, put it in an envelope, and give it ONLY to me? So then I'll know!"

Uhhhhhhh... No. I said, "I don't think so." So she says, "You're really mean to me, you know that?" Ok crazy pants!

When I told FH about this later, his response to this was "there no fucking way that is happening."

edit: also, this baby has not been conceived yet so she's just dipping her toes in the insanity water... wedding planning is making her even more insane than normal x(
