Grenade behaviour.
Okay so there are tons of post about gun play and gameplay in general, but I'd like to talk about grenades.
There are 4 types of grenades, at least in the open beta.
- Fragmentation - Deals High damage, chance to apply Bleed effect.
- Incendiary - Doesnt do initial damage, but applies Fire DOT.
- Tear Gas - Applies disorientation, reducing accuracy and disrupting vision
- Flashbang - Um normal flashbang, impairs vision and hearing.
There will be two more,
- EMP - silences all electronics (I am actually super excited on how EMP's work in the game, because it will be super fun if all your electronics are fried for a certain time, and by all, I mean all. Your watch, your skills and your weapons electronic attachments)
- Shock - Yet to see what this does exactly.
There is also a sticky bomb skill.
Now the thing I want to talk about is physics. Fragmentation grenades should have a bit of a roll, same with Flash. They all just stick to the ground where you throw them.
Tear gas should have a lot of roll and since its called a gas, should erupt in a lot of smoke too. Most of the time tear gas is just useless in DZ since the enemy still hits you square in the jaw with bullets (NPC and Players alike)
The only grenade that should burst on impact should be Incendiary and EMP.
I like the idea of predicting enemy movement and preparing that spot with a grenade roll, makes it a bit more challenging. Instead right now I just wait for the enemy to settle at a place and throw a grenade on its head.
Secondly, I'd like if the developers reduce the number of grenades you can carry. If everyone can carry everything, it makes no sense. There should be specialties and strategies for going different roles. For example
In a team of 4, if there is a medic, he should be equipped with tear gas and flashbangs so that if he has a friend in need, he can pop a smoke and rush to help. If the other guy is going Assault, he doesnt need a tear gas or shock. Just flashbangs and fragmentation grenades. Sniper should go EMP and Tear/shock grenades.
These kind of combinations will make teamplay awesome.
You can argue that what if people are solo or just two. Well you still need to make a decision on what you should be able to carry. I guess being an Assault benefits solos the best since you are always running around.
Also, the Re-Stocking. I should be able to re-stock on all grenade types, not just fragmentation grenades. How does it make sense that I have to loot the other grenade types from NPC's that might or might not drop them.
