Cute packaging and hype, versus quality
In MUA the Too Faced hype is unreal. I happened to have a giftcard from Christmas so I spent it on the Bon Bon Palette, thinking that there was no way so many people could love a product if it wasn't great. I ended up returning it because there was practically zero pigmentation.
I've come to wonder if the packaging is just so enamoring that consumers forget completely about quality? Do you find this to be true of other brands? I'm not sure how many other brands come out with "adorable" or cool packaging but if so, do you find that it sways opinions about quality?
In MUA I'm responded to as though I'm using the product wrong and/or I'm almost crazy to not like the products, as though people refuse to believe there's anything wrong with Too Faced quality.
I have to include in my comments that I've used a base and primer and that I've compared mine to my friend's palette so that I don't get messages saying, "BUT DID YOU USE A BASE???" "YOU MUST HAVE GOTTEN A DUD."
So I am opening this up to all products that you may have experienced this with, not just Too Faced but in my experience the hype is WAY over the top for those products and it's made me wonder if it's just the packaging? If it's just makeup newbies that haven't tried any other shadows?
Is it the hype blinding people to the quality too?
