Which brother is brightest?

Just finished the series for the third time and had a question that's always plagued me. Is Mycroft really more intelligent/clever than Sherlock? It's stated multiple times that he is but on other occasions Sherlock seems to outsmart him. Just wondering what everyone else here thought. Do they each just have a better knowledge on certain things? Or is one brother clearly more intelligent?
