is it still worth it?

So I want to start vanilla but I would probably take a long time to level because of unpredictable time to play and other things to do, so assuming I play 2 hours a day would it still be worth it to role on the pvp server or would I be better rolling on the pve server? Is the pve servers pvp active? And how bad is the over pop of the pvp server?
