So I got the season pass for PS4. It says I purchased it but that's all. Isn't it supposed to download or will that happen once there's something to download?

Seems like a dumb question I know, but I just don't want to be screwed. I purchased the season pass through GameStop and entered the code before I even had the game, so I guess I'm just worried that I should've waited to enter the code until after I put the game onto the console first?
