Ubon Ratchathani geography.

Could someone give me a little perspective on Ubon Ratchathani's geography? I've been hired to teach English starting in May, at a school called Phibunmangshan. Can someone give me some perspective on Phibun and Ubon? How far away are they? Will I be going to a really rural place that is difficult to visit more developed areas? Or will I be close to a lot of developed places? What should I be prepared for?
