Just wanted to share the treatments my Fury is going through....

So me and Fury (formally Furiosa, but the vet said she is a he) have a long road of healing ahead of us.

First, he developed a bump on one side of his lip. It didn't seem to bother him though, his appetite and level of activity stayed the same and so I decided to just watch it. This my first and worst mistake. His appetite started tapering off and he started digging around a lot and sleeping a lot more than normal. So I did some research on brumation and thought thats what we were looking at. I was the worst and did not take him to the vet right away because I was dealing with two deaths in my family, and my baby sister who has had anorexia going through a really rough breakup. So poor Fury took a back burner.

When he stopped eating and his jaw started swelling on the other side, i snapped out of it and took him to the vet. $430, a lot of tears, overnight hospitalization, and both sides of his jaw being lanced later, here we are now.

It looks like the superworms I was feeding him bit the inside of his mouth and caused an infection. This infection went down into the bone and was so painful that he couldn't eat. He also had two types of parasites.

I now have to feed him twice a day by feeding a tube directly into his stomach and pushing in the food by syringe. Fury also gets pain meds and dewormer once a day, and an antibiotic injection once every three days. And a second dewormer I will give in 2 weeks. Injecting past scales is really difficult, guys. And my poor baby has a big hole on one side or his jaw. :(

A little bit of good news is that the vet told me that Fury did have metabolic bone disease due to lack of UVB light before I adopted him, but I cured that. Also I showed the vet my setup for him and he approved.

We have been doing the tube feeding for 4 days now and he has perked up so much! He does NOT like having the tube ran down his throat and gets super black bearded at me each time we do it. But I give him snuggles and love every time until his beard goes yellow again.

So guys, don't fuck up like I did. Make sure that if there is any external weirdness that you take your beardie to a vet right away!! I would have saved so much pain and stress for both of us (well mostly poor Fury) if I had gone in weeks ago.
