Local Tech Companies - What are they really like?
I hear rumors about how various tech companies in the area (MINDBODY, Rosetta, Amazon, etc.) operate, but i'm curious how they ACTUALLY operate. What's the company culture like at each? What about your quality of life while working there (specifically as a software engineer if possible)? Do they pay well?
Rosetta seems to be known to turn and burn employees. As in, they'll hire a lot of employees while they have a large contract, and then lay them off when it's done. Also, they work you (at least as a software engineer) really hard - lots of long hours, etc. but you get paid fairly well?
Amazon, is also known to have high turnover of employees.
MINDBODY seems to have a good quality of life but possibly pays less than the other two.
I don't know or hear much about iFixIt, Clever Ducks, AP Logic, or others but let's hear it!
EDIT: Wow! I've always been curious about iFixit as it seems right up my alley (i love tinkering and taking things apart), and it sounds like a great place. I wanted to take the tour a week or so ago, but had other commitments.
Keep 'em comin'!
