Lore: What do you suppose the Ancestor's/Heir's noble rank actually is?

I'd assumed we were fairly low-ranking, given that our holdings consist of a little hamlet and an undeveloped wilderness of ambiguous breadth, but the size and condition of an estate doesn't always scale with the magnitude of a title. Any headcanons?
