Player of the Game: LeBron James
Sure, the Wolves have surged recently, but no one suspected they'd challenge the league powerhouse Knicks, much less beat them.
It looked like another LeBron endeavor. Finishing with 39 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds on an ultra-efficient 18-21 from the field, the King pulled New York to a 10 point half-time lead. A desperation 3-2 zone from Minnesota's second unit changed the course, though, generating a low-scoring third quarter and an alarmingly close game.
With only seconds left, traditionally-awful FT shooter Hassan Whiteside knocked down 2 for a one point Wolves-lead. Hearts stopped when Harrison Barnes found an open three on the other end - but the shot wouldn't fall.
A balanced effort from the Wolves included 14+ point performances from sixth man contender K.J. McDaniels, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Michael Carter-Williams.
