Has anyone ever noticed the power of eye contact in portraying confidence?

I was just watching "Burnt" with Bradley Cooper, and noticed how directly and intently he keeps eye contact with those he is paired with in the scene. Even when they aren't looking at him, he still tries to search out their eyes. Does anyone else find this technique extremely powerful in portraying confidence (and lets face it, its pretty sexy too;)?
