What happened to Jason Thompson?

Was it just that he was surplus to requirements at the Warriors?

He's pretty much gone from being a handy starting Power Forward on the Kings for 7 years straight, to being an end of the bench player on the Warriors, to being cut and supporters practically celebrating that he's not there anymore.

Just seems weird that he's fallen that far out of favour in 6 months.
