Hello Friends,

Below is a transcript of an encounter I had on Instagram earlier this evening. The names have been changed for privacy reasons but the comments are unchanged.

Backstory: I live in Canada and go to Highschool. I have an acquaintance who hates Islam and is a Donlad Trump supporter. We talk politics at lunch sometimes and he disgusts me. Anyways, he tags me in stuff on Instagram to do with his political agenda and I usually just laugh it off and ignore. On this occasion it was different though. He tagged me on a post posted by a devoted anti-Islam page about a rape in Sweden and said something about them having sources (I always ask for sources to his ridiculous claims). The original poster replied and then my friend went on to speak about my stance on refugees. This set off both the poster and his girlfriend. As they are both very active Islam haters, they both had copy/paste rapid fire facts and arguments. I had no facts and no arguments. Just my morals. I tried my best to defend myself but of course I ended up looking uneducated and ignorant. I didn't know what else to do. The purpose of my post here is to start a conversation about this type of online hatred and how I can prepare myself for if this were to happen again. I understand that it probably isn't worth my time arguing with people like this online but I wanted to see what this community would think of the situation. Thank you very much for reading and I'm sorry if any of what I said below is offensive. It wasn't meant to be like that. :)

I'm saying to keep them out of our country and renew our strained relations with Israel, our only ally and only democracy in the Middle East. What you need to understand is islam is not just a religion. It is an all encompassing political ideology to establish a world caliphate and destroy all non-believers. That includes you.

Most people are simply unaware that Islam is NOT just another religion but a totalitarian political cult-like ideology, which compels its followers into blind obedience, teaches intolerance, brutality and locks all Muslims and non-Muslims in a struggle deriving directly from the 7th century nomadic, predatory culture. Islam means “submission” to the will of Allah and the teachings as depicted in the Qur’an which include jihad – the genocidal slaughter of infidels by the sword, killing by beheading, intolerance of other religions, as well as forcing submission to Islam. The ultimate goal of jihad is the domination of Islam over the entire world. In Islam, one is considered “moderate” if one supports the goals of jihad, if not the tactics. Those who totally reject the violent teachings of Islam are considered apostates of Islam and as such, are condemned to death.

Statistically, most Muslims in the world support some sort of extremist belief, like stoning women for minor “offences”, murdering infidels or forcing Sharia law. The Quran advocates subjects such as deception, paedophilia and violence. The Bible, both the New and Old Testament, in comparison, only requires Jews and Christians to adhere to the moderate teachings of Judaism and Christianity in the 21st Century. Islam is not a race, it is a belief. It is not “racist” to judge those who willingly identify themselves with this belief. It can be compared to radical Satanism. An increased immigration of people of Islamic faith can be tied to increased statistics of murder, robbery and rape in various nations. No other current religion has caused as much death and destruction in the 21st century. It’s not “Islamophobia”, it’s a natural sense of self-preservation!

The Koran just as the bible is open to interpretation. Christians have modernized and so can Islam. Only with tolerance can that happen though.
