25, have an ultrasound and mammogram scheduled tomorrow morning to check for cancer. Need encouragement.
Hi everyone,
So as the title says, I am 25 years old. I've felt a few lumps in my breast for the past two months, and while I assumed they were nothing, I had my doctor check them out on Thursday to be safe. He was very nonchalant, telling me that he was positive I was fine and a breast exam was just to be 100% safe. Then he found the lump and his face changed. He mumbled some medical stuff to his nurse who exclaimed out loud "that big?!?". My doctor looked at me and said "you're probably fine", but he scheduled me for an ultrasound that day. However, the earliest I could get seen is tomorrow morning.
So, I've been spiraling all weekend with what ifs. And while I know it is unbelievably unlikely that it could be cancer, I have an awful feeling in the pit of my stomach. My husband and best friend have been supportive and kind, but they just keep telling me it's nothing and I shouldn't worry. Which of course not only makes me worry, but also makes me feel crazy for being scared.
Anyway, as I try to sleep tonight, I could just use some kind words, and wanted to know if anyone else has gone through this in their twenties. Thanks for reading.
