Difficulty with an array[] searching an array[][] program.

Happy Sunday all. I've been tasked with creating a program that takes in an input, splits it into an array of characters, then compares that to an already existing array created from a .txt file. So far everything has the appearance of being operational but nothing works and i keep receiving mixed results when creating new inputs. I've received varied results from the try/catch picking up errors and several debugs that act differently each time. If anyone has any tips or ideas that would assist i'd deeply appreciate it since at this point i'm mentally dead.
