Does anyone else get jarred into remembering how... monogamous the rest of the world is?

I dunno man, just something I wanna get off my chest.

Sometimes I feel like I get insulated in my poly/non-mono spaces with my long term friends with benefits and our discussions of compersion and discussing joys of NREs and then... you go to work, or school, and then you're just not in those spaces anymore. The discussion around relationships is just so different.

I am desperately trying to not seem like a poly-letist and I am definitely not complaining about lack of dating opportunities, but just... I dunno. I listen to people shoot the shit about relationships and then discuss how they want to find the one person who will remove their desires for all others, and I'm just baffled. I listen to them talk about how it's such a drag being in a long term relationship because you'll eventually cheat on each other, and I just want to scream "There is a way around this, guys!!" They discuss how jealous they are and how they'll fuck anyone up who looks at their girl, and I'm... it's just strange. I'm just picking out the worst bits, of course, most of it isn't so blatant, but every once in a while there's a comment that reminds me just how aggressively okay it is to be protective and jealous, how expected.

Yeah, I don't know. Weird midnight rant. Sorry guys!
